Birth of WindForFuture in Burgundy

2010/10/06

On Thursday, September 9th, a Constituent General Assembly created, in the form of an association, WindForFuture (W4F), a consortium of economic operators in wind energy in Burgundy.

Creation of Wind 4 Future cluster

The position of President is filled by Dominique Legros, CEO of Céole, a manufacturer of wind turbine towers in Longvic. This industrialist stated : "After the clear success of Wind Day, a global day on the power of wind, the legitimacy of establishing a cluster of wind companies was assured. Many companies in the industry were moved and the State and the region have publicly supported us. In July 2010, I asked Burgundy Development to assist us in quickly assembling the cluster. Two months later, we validated our articles of association and appointed the members of our office."

Francois Patriat, President of the Regional Council of Burgundy added : "When I took over this region in 2004, wind was a taboo subject. Then there were triggers : the wind atlas with ADEME, the introduction of SIAG in Creusot and Céole in Longvic, our energy and climate plan, the creation of a wind park in Saint-Seine-l’Abbaye and in my township, the Grenelle debate in the Senate, the Wind day in Arconcey and then today the formation of a consortium and tomorrow the development of a Regional Climate Air Energy Scheme (Schéma Régional Climat Air Énergie or SCRAE by its French name and acronym) with a wind turbine. I am pleased to have participated in the construction of this building alongside many of the mayors of our small rural communities."

Dominique Legros, Chairman of the Burgundian WindforFuture wind cluster :

"The missions of the cluster are driven by the willingness of companies to come together to create synergies between themselves and thus form a cluster. The cluster promotes business development and connects member companies with major OEMs, develops trades and skills, innovation, staff training needs and activities and collaborative projects. The companies that responded to our invitation are from the four departments of the region and have complementary activities. Thanks to their skills, Burgundy focuses its know-how on the manufacture of wind turbines and equipment (SKF, Céole, Cita, Bénitis, Monnot, Parvex, Nexans, Prysmian, TPC, Précilec, Nexans SIAG, SNCTP), study and control (Apave, Cégelec, Socotec Tauw Environnement), and the installation, operation and maintenance of wind parks (Cayon Transport et Levage, EDF Bourgogne, Ineo Réseaux Est, Powéo). For training and innovation there are professional bodies such as the RCCI and the ITC, the Office of the Regional Council of Burgundy, local authorities, the State, ADEME and educational institutions (Lycée Hyppolyte Fontaine and Lycée Eiffel de Dijon, l’IUT du Creusot), expressed their support and interest in the development of the industry."
