Burgundy Wind Day, promising results

In Burgundy, Wind Day, the International Wind Turbine Day, was held on 15th June on the Auxois south wind farm, a power unit operated by POWEO. A day which was successful in winning new members for the Burgundy business network.

Wind turbines have already created 1,000 jobs in Burgundy. 85 farms have been registered, 8 Wind Farm Development Areas have been agreed and a further 3 are in the pipeline. And the region is aiming at a minimum total output of 1,000 Mw. To achieve this, 400 wind turbines will be needed in the region.

To meet future needs, industry will need to hire staff. Dominique Legros, SER-FE regional delegate, believes : “The wind turbine industry is going to develop over the coming 10 years, which should result in a five-fold increase in the number of employees in Burgundy. And the imminent launch of a wind turbine cluster association should enable this objective to be achieved.
