W4F, a group of businesses in the Burgundy wind turbine sector, has just been certified as a « cluster » by the French Agency, Datar. A commendable national recognition which is not just a question of luck. This « cluster » is the fruit of many months of reflection and development.
Official recognition of Burgundy’s industrial and environmental dynamism
Friday, 21st January, in Paris, Mr. Bruno LEMAIRE, Minister of Rural Areas and Regional Planning, announced the certification of the Burgundy wind energy cluster. As President of Wind For Future – W4F, Mr. Dominique Legros accepted this certificate from the Minister. In the end, there were 82 successful candidates in the second wave of the call for proposals for the « cluster » project, selected among about 100 applicants, who were chosen for the quality of their applications. Indeed, only the most innovative and formative projects for their regions were kept. A government financial package of 24 million Euros is expected to help support the clusters which were chosen.
Dominique Legros states : « I am very happy that our candidature was accepted and has been appreciated for its true worth. It is official recognition of the dynamism of the Burgundy wind energy field. Currently, the Burgundy wind energy field accounts for a thousand employees, a figure which we expect to multiply by five in the years to come. W4F already has 20 members who support its actions. Businesses situated in adjacent regions have joined us in this adventure ». The Burgundy wind energy field lives up to its promises. It has gathered together an active « cluster » which has obtained national recognition only 5 months following its creation which should help it to rapidly attain its ambitious objectives : to diversify regional metallurgy and services to companies, to support local employment, to see the emergence of new competencies and to support internationalization of our SME’s.
