Strasbourg at Burgundy’s doorsteps

Dijon to Strasbourg in two hours ! The new Rhine-Rhone high-speed train, inaugurated with great ceremony on September 8th, 2011 is a truly large-scale infrastructure project, requiring the construction of a dozen viaducts and one hundred bridges for completion. The national railroad company SNCF expects to transport about 10 million passengers per year on this line alone. The East branch will be complemented in the future by a West branch (Paris to Lyon) and a South branch (to the Mediterranean). This project creates a new regional geography, both by facilitating and accelerating movement between provincial cities and Dijon, and more importantly by giving rapid access to Switzerland and Germany – two attractive and booming markets with huge potential.
