Buildings for tomorrow
Under the impulsion of the Burgundy Regional Council and the presence of numerous small businesses, the eco-construction industry is developing. Three requests for proposals launched since 2006, 142 successful candidates: 180,000 m² low-energy, passive or positive-energy buildings under conception or realisation, 290 new or renovated buildings (1250 social housing and 83 tertiary buildings).
The industry relies on the expansion of wood for construction, benefitting from a major source of raw material in Burgundy:

210 collective and industrial heating systems documented in 2008 - Aprovalbois 2009
Inaugurated in 2006, the largest heating system in France at Echalot in the Côte d’Or. A capacity of 5MW, it burns about 5000 tons of straw and 800 tons of wood, all from neighbouring farms and woodyards.
4 rural centres of excellence dedicated to the use of wood: Autunois-Morvan, La Roche en Brénil, Charitois region and La Machine.
