Wind turbines are creating tomorrow’s jobs

2010/06/03

On 2nd June, French journalists visited SIAG, a Burgundy company (Saône-et-Loire) manufacturing wind turbine masts.

The visit to the Burgundy company SIAG was organised on the initiative of two large clients, the French subsidiary of the German company REpower, who installs large capacity wind turbines, and ELOLE-RES, the wind turbine energy producers.

There are some hundred employees at SIAG who are currently manufacturing the masts to supply 26 wind turbines, each with 2 MW.of power. Working at full capacity this wind farm will attain a 52 MW capability. It will enable 35,000 tonnes of CO2 to be saved annually and supply electricity for the requirements of 50,000 people per year.

Burgundy Development and the Burgundy Regional Council state that this Burgundy industry represents about 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in Burgundy and could triple in the years to come.
